A comprehensive program aimed at returning athletes to full competition after an injury, surgery, and subsequent physical therapy.
Recovery from injury isn’t always linear, and many times surgery and basic physical therapy alone are not enough to return to pre-injury status. The athlete is often not physically & mentally ready to actually “compete” at a high level.
The Return to Competition Program at Hardkore Athletic Performance Center provides this missing piece in an athlete’s total recovery process.
This unique program is specifically geared towards getting recovering athletes safely back to full competition. Custom tailored to each individual athlete’s specific injury, needs and circumstances.
Step 1: Assessment
A trained physical therapist will design a course of action to improve functional strength, mobility and speed based on medical history and physical testing. (Separate fee of $125)
Step 2:
Testing
State-of-the-art Keiser strength equipment is used to get a complete and precise picture of overall performance. Further testing, if warranted, can be done to measure speed as well as body mass index using our Zybek Dash Lane and Inbody body composition analyzer.Body body composition analyzer.
Step 3: Plan
Based on test results our team of physical therapists, trainers and coaches (including Kevin Orcutt) develop a comprehensive 8 week functional strength program tailored to the athlete’s specific needs. This program will be accessible via the Bridge Athletic on-line app which will organize workouts, track progress and offer additional support with video guidance. Strength coaches will be available in person for additional encouragement and guidance and to assist with equipment.
Step 4:
Execution
Utilizing the Bridge Athletic training app, the athlete can access and follow the given workout and instructions for that day. In addition to the app, coaches are available at all times for guidance, to answer questions and monitor form and machine usage. Both small group(2-3x weekly) and individual (1x per week) sessions are available based on preference and specific need.
Step 5:
Reassesment
At the halfway point of four weeks, the athlete may be tested again. This may involve testing functional strength or functional speed or both. Adjustments to the overall training plan may be made based upon these results.
Step 6:
Final Assessment
At the end of the 8-week program, the athlete is once again tested to mark overall progress. The coach and athlete will also hold a short interview to talk about the implementation and execution of the program post-recovery.
Step 7:
Repeat
At this point, most athletes chose to repeat the 8-week program. After a brief reassessment with our physical therapist, a revised & updated functional strength program is created and delivered to the athlete via the Bridge Athletic training app, and the athlete progresses through the program again.
Step 8:
Graduate
Ultimately, the athlete progresses through as many 8-week segments as is necessary to confidently and safely return to full competition. At this point, the athlete can transition to a traditional functional strength program, move to 1-1 personal training, or at the very least begin an unlimited gym membership to retain access to all equipment & amenities at Hardkore Athletic Performance Center.
